Tzia/Kea/ Cycladic Islands
Tzia (Kea) belongs to the Cycladic island complex and has for long been overshadowed by other neighboring islands, remaining a well-hidden secret only known to the selected few. But Tzia has nothing to be jealous of its more well-known neighbors, as it is an Aegean heaven in its own unique way: it is the closest of the Cycladic Islands to the mainland, only an hour and a half ferry journey away from the port of Lavrion with frequent ferry connections making it a perfect escape even for a few days; it is a darling of sailors and an excellent starting point for cruising the Aegean; it has a lovely town, Ioulida, nested in the cliffs secluded from the winds and the frequent raids of pirates that have haunted the Eastern Mediterranean in past centuries; and it has recently become a popular spot for the development of quality private retreats that enjoy stunning locations, scenic views over the blue sea, and exclusive access to beaches otherwise accessible only by the sea.
Kea is easily accessible by ferry, but can also be reached by a privately hired boat that will turn the way to and from the island into an experience of its own.
